Our initiatives are a great way for individuals to assist us in our work to advocate for mental health, and remind youth that small daily actions can make a big diffrence. We have a variety of ideas ranging from activities you can do on your own time, to activities we provide that you can take part in.
Together, Ensemble. is a bilingual podcast hosted by Loizza Aquino and Shophika Vaithyanathasarma to create and environment where anglophones and francophones can come together, break the stigma surrounding mental health and bring awareness to this important topic.
Our official blog, Starting the Conversation, will provide individuals with the opportunity to discuss and create a community around mental health and supporting each other. The blog will be a safe space for individuals to give feedback, ideas, and help eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health.
Peace of Mind Canada would like to extend the topic of mental health towards the gaming community. The suicide of 3 gaming streamers, one of which was a 26-year old woman from Vancouver, pushed our team to start this initiative in order to promote positive mental health and a supportive community through our Discord Server. Though there will be Peace of Mind Canada hosted and scheduled game nights, members are welcome to utilize the server to make friends, play other games they enjoy with other members of the community, and talk about mental health in a safe environment (our discussion questions from The Support Hub will also be available on the server for members to talk about).
Our peer support discussion forum, under the name The Support Hub, provides individuals with the opportunity to find others who may be experiencing similar struggles to their own in a supportive environment. Topics are updated weekly on Instagram every Sunday and include discussion questions for individuals to answer in the comments, and a video portion such as a meditation session or deeper discussion from one of our members on IGTV.
Mental Health in the Workplace is an interview session hosted once every month. Peace of Mind Canada invites individuals from a variety of different work places to speak on the topic of mental health, and how that correlates with their job responsibilities. Mental Health in the Workplace is an opportunity for young people to remind themselves that mental health is still important, even for people who have stable and steady jobs. Each session will include a Q&A session where our special guest will answer questions submitted by young individuals seeking advice on how to balance their mental health and work life. All questions submitted will stay anonymous.
BRO (Brothers Reaching Out) is a community of individuals who stand together for men's mental health awareness. Throughout the year, conferences will be organized where we will be discussing men's mental health issues. Individuals are encouraged to take this opportunity to meet people across Canada and to discuss strategies to either help you or a loved one. There will be guest speakers and every participant has an opportunity to win one of our gift cards.
